Thomas Silva of XDS Astana wins Stage 2 of the Giro and pulls on the Maglia Rosa

Thomas Silva takes a historic win on Stage 2 of the Giro d'Italia and pulls on the iconic Maglia Rosa.

Thanks to superb teamwork from XDS Astana, Silva powered to an uphill sprint in Veliko Tarnovo, becoming the first Uruguayan rider to win a stage and take the Giro GC lead. A textbook lead-out from teammate Christian Scaroni set up the decisive move before Thomas kicked for the line.
