Italian climber Christian Scaroni of the XDS Astana squad powered to victory at the finish of the 5th and final stage of the Tour of Oman (2.Pro), atop Jabal Al Akhdar after a 155.9 km flat run from Nizwa, before the brutal 5.7 km summit finish at 10.4% average gradient, regarded as the toughest in the Middle East with ramps between 17 and 19%.

In the final standings, he secures the overall by 24 seconds, while his teammate Christian Rodriguez slots into second on the podium.
