Supported by the Cyclisme municipal d'Aubervilliers, founded in 1948, the St-Michel Auber 93 cycling team was born in 1994 under the name Aubervilliers 93. As its name indicates, it is a strong symbol of the Seine-Saint-Denis territory and is part of the bold vision of the CMA 93 club. This is the first time that an amateur club has entered the professional peloton! The St-Michel Auber team has distinguished itself at the highest level in the most prestigious road races from 1996 to 2003. Since 2005, the continental team has been competing in the 3rd UCI Continental International Division. It now competes in smaller events on continental circuits, including events on the UCI Europe Tour. At the end of the 2020 season, the team is ranked 95th in the UCI world rankings, under the sporting direction of Stéphan Gaudry.
In the past, the team was sponsored twice by the company BigMat - it was called "BigMat-Auber 93" at the time - and then by the company HP BTP. Since 2018, its title sponsor is none other than the French family cookie factory St-Michel. The riders of the St-Michel Auber 93 team don an orange jersey, in the colors of its main partner.
This talented team reflects the values driven by the CMA Auber 93, whose philosophy focuses on making cycling accessible to all. Encouraging gender diversity and disabled cycling, the club is a true school of cycling. It promotes the sport among Sequano-Dionysians and aims to be a springboard to the sphere of high level thanks to its training structure that welcomes young amateurs.
The St-Michel Auber 93 team thus evolves alongside a women's team (National 1 FFC division), a junior team and the youth of the cycling school.

The main victories of the St-Michel Auber 93 team

The period from the late 1990s to the early 2000s marks the best years of the St-Michel Auber 93 cycling team. Under the aegis of its manager Stéphane Javalet, who has been present since the beginning and is still in office today, the team has reached great heights.
One remembers its five participations in the Tour de France (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2001), and especially the 2016 edition that will remain engraved in memories. That year, the young Cyril Saugrain finished as the winner of a stage of the Grande boucle, a real pride.
In 2000, the rider Christophe Capelle was crowned French road champion thanks to his victory in the road race event. The following year, it was Britain's Jeremy Hunt who won the British Road Championships. In 2002, he added the classic Grand Prix de Plouay to the team's list of achievements. Invited to participate in the Tour of Spain the same year, the team achieved a respectable performance with Félix García Casas finishing 8th overall.
Other successes in one-day or stage races have strengthened the influence of the Saint-Michel Auber 93 cycling team, such as the Tour de Normandie (1996, 2000), Paris-Camembert (1998) or the Tro Bro Leon (2005). More recently, the Tour de Bretagne (2017), the Boucles de l'Aulne (2018), the Circuit des Ardennes International (2018) and the Kreiz Breizh Elites in 2018.
In 2015, sprinter Steven Tronet offered a second victory for his team in the French Road Championships (road race).

Team leaders

The St-Michel Auber 93 cycling team has a roster of 11 riders built around two leaders: Romain Cardis and Stéphane Rossetto.

Romain Cardis

Born in 1992, Romain Cardis fell in love with two-wheelers at the age of five. This cyclist from Ile-de-France trains relentlessly over the years. In 2016, his amateur career came to an end as he turned professional with the Direct Énergie team. That same year, he participated in the Vuelta and finished 148th overall.
In 2018, he won the 1st stage of the Tour de Wallonie, and two years later, second place in the Grand Prix d'Isbergues.
Romain Cardis joins the St-Michel Auber 93 team in 2021. He has the honor of offering his team the first victory of the season on the 62nd edition of Paris-Troyes, thanks to a superb final sprint against ten other cyclists.

Stéphane Rossetto

Native of Melun, just like his teammate Romain Cardis, Stéphane Rossetto discovered the joys of cycling in 2001.A 33-year-old giant, the French rider entered the professional world in 2010 in the colors of Vacansoleil, before returning to the amateur category at the end of the season.
It was in 2013 that he began his professional career in earnest with the BigMat-Auber 93 continental team. He followed that up with a first win on the final stage of the Tour du Limousin before finishing first overall in the Boucles de la Mayenne the following year.
Stéphane Rosso joined the Cofidis team in 2015 with which he competed in the major tours: five editions for the Tour of Spain, the 2019 Tour de France and the Tour of Italy in 2020. He is also a two-time French time trial runner-up (2015 and 2018).
2021 marks his return to the St-Michel Auber 93 cycling team. The two leaders will be able to count on the support of their teammates to lead them to victory:
