The new Ekoï Gara ultralight helmet was designed with 5 goals in mind: protection, comfort, weight, ventilation, design.
The protection remains the first priority of a helmet and the Ekoï Gara model must protect effectively in case of impact. We've strengthened the helmet for side impacts (the most dangerous), optimized the design with a shape that's tailored for better rock protection, and added the MIPS AIR® system.

The 20 ventilations in this helmet allow airflow even in the hottest temperatures.

Equipped with the MIPS AIR® system
MIPS AIR® is designed to reduce the rotational movement of the head during certain angular impacts.
MIPS AIR® was specifically developed and designed to be the lightest possible system to reduce the rotational energies transferred to the head during specific angular impacts.
MIPS AIR® replaces traditional Gara foams and allows 10-15 mm of relative movement between the helmet and the rider's head.
Ventilation optimal
The vents on the front of the helmet optimize the inflow of fresh air while the vents on the back allow heat and moisture to escape.

The occipital support is also adjustable from the bottom to the top of the occiput to optimize the helmet's fit.

In my opinion, there are two trends in helmets lately, the first is that they've become increasingly expensive, silly expensive actually; and the second is that they've become very boring and similar. The Gara isn't either of those. First off the Gara is very reasonably priced for a well-ventilated premium helmet that also features Mips technology; secondly, the design is a refreshing departure, especially with the chameleon accents and the option to have your name on it as well. The helmet itself is very well made, the finish on it is perfect, and I think its a huge benefit that the shell wraps around the underside of the helmet; too many helmets, regardless of price, are leaving the rim of the helmet exposed which makes them susceptible to damage, the Gara doesn't so not only will it be more protected but it also presents itself as a more premium helmet. The padding is appropriately comfortable and I love the magnetic sliding buckle on the straps, I think this is much better option compared to the normal click-in buckle. While I can't vouch for crash protection - and lets face it, I hope I never have to - I can talk about fit. I have a 60cm head that is very much a long oval in shape. For those unfamiliar, helmets are usually designed to fit an oval head shape though some are more round and others more long oval. I'd say that the Gara falls somewhere between oval and long oval; there is no pressure on my forehead and its not sloppy or overly roomy on the sides. I find that it fits very well. The bottom line is that its an attractive and well-priced helmet option that's definitely worth considering. I like it so much I am considering ordering another!
