Auteur d'un excellent début de saison (3ème des Strade Bianche et de la Flèche Wallonne...), le puncheur belge de la formation Lotto-Dstny s'est adjugé au sprint la 61ème édition de l'Eschborn-Francfort, signant au passage la première victoire de sa carrière à cet échelon. Resté discret tout au long du parcours (203.5 kms), Maxim Van Gils est revenu sur la course en déclarant: "Mes sensations n'étaient pas super bonnes. Mais mon équipe a fait un fantastique boulot pour durcir la course. Je devais juste survivre à la dernière montée de Mammolshain (20.4 kms à 7.7%). Je suis resté dans les roues pour récupérer et quelques mètres avant l'arrivée j'ai vu le trou, je me suis faufilé et j'ai fini fort." The 18th edition of the Strade Bianche lived up to all its promises. Offensive throughout the race, 24-year-old Belgian puncheur Maxim Van Gils of Lotto-Dstny took a strong third place in this atypical World Tour event. Les 193 kilomètres du jour n'ont pas effrayé les hommes "violets" du peloton. Très rapidement Antonio Angulo (Burgos BH) prend les devants et se glisse dans l'échappée, qui se fera finalement reprendre au pied de la dernière ascension. En surnombre dans cette ultime difficulté de première catégorie, les coureurs de la Burgos BH parviennent à résister aux différentes attaques. A 200 mètres de la ligne, c'est au tour de Victor Langellotti de contrer et de s'imposer avec quelques longueurs d'avance. Très ému, il déclare après sa deuxième victoire professionnelle : "C'est très spécial de gagner car je suis le seul coureur cycliste professionnel originaire de Monaco. Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-Samsic) s'adjuge ENFIN Paris BourgesAvec un casque Ekoï Aerodinamica, des lunettes Ekoï PersoEvo8 et du textile EkoïÊtre sprinteur, c'est faire partie d'une caste très particulière dans laquelle la confiance joue un rôle prépondérant. En intégrant la formation bretonne Arkéa-Samsic le 1er août dernier, Arnaud Démare a pris conscience qu'une équipe avait encore confiance en ses qualités. 5 jours après son premier succès avec ses nouvelles couleurs, il double la mise sur Paris Bourges. Dans un final houleux, il choisit de se placer dans la roue du favori du jour : Arnaud de Lie (Lotto-Dstny). Dans les 200 derniers mètres, les deux hommes se livrent un combat d'une violence telle que "le taureau de Lescheret" rompra sa chaîne et déjantera de la roue avant... Un "Arnaud" peut en cacher un autre, mais aujourd'hui la victoire revient à Démare, après deux 2ème place (en 2021 et 2022). Luca Mozzato (Arkéa Samsic) un retour éclair sur Binche Chimay BincheAvec un casque Ekoï Aerodinamica, des lunettes Ekoï Ottimo et du textile EkoïUn mois et demi après sa première victoire professionnelle, Luca Mozzato confirme les espoirs placés en lui en s'adjugeant un succès notoire à l'occasion de la Binche - Chimay - Binche. Le sprinteur italien a eu le mérite de croire en lui jusqu'à la ligne d'arrivée et bien lui en a pris... Dans un final marqué par une chute dans les 2 derniers kilomètres et des sections pavées, moins d'une demi douzaine de coureurs peuvent prétendre à la victoire. Alors que ses adversaires semblent partis pour se disputer la gagne, les mains cramponnées au cintre, il revient de nul part au prix d'un effort violent et passe la ligne en vainqueur sur le fil. Mal placé au moment de la chute, Arnaud de Lie (Lotto-Dstny) est distancé et ne parviendra jamais à recoller le groupe de tête. Il termine 6ème, Hugo Hofstetter (Arkéa-Samsic) 9ème.
