Buying guide to choose your bike frame bag

If the pannier is essential for bicycle touring enthusiasts, it is also essential for road cyclists. In smaller sizes, of course, and to be attached to the bike frame! Find your perfect bike frame bag for your rides and workouts with our buying guide.

The gear to pack in your road bike pannier

The bike frame pannier is an essential part of road cycling. It allows you to carry the essential equipment for your rides, including the puncture kit.
No need, then, for a large bikepacking type pannier. A small, compact, lightweight saddlebag will do just fine to carry the bare minimum with you: inner tube, patches, multi-tools, wrench, tire iron, cartridges and CO2 inflator or pump.
There are several saddlebag capacities, usually around 0.3 to 1 liter. Depending on the size, you can also insert a phone, your keys and a snack to give you energy during the ride!

Compare bike frame bag types

The choice of your pannier is going to depend on the geometry of the bike, the amount of gear you want to store, and your preferences. Here are the different models of bike frame panniers and peripherals:
the triangular frame pannier: its ergonomic shape fits the frame perfectly with attachments at the top tube and down tube;
the top tube frame pannier: it attaches to the horizontal tube for quick and easy access to bars and gels while pedaling;
the minimalist saddle bag: often equipped with reflective strips, it comes attached to the rails or seatpost;
the handlebar bag: more bulky and less aerodynamic, it may be suitable for occasional riders.
If you plan to carry hydrophobic equipment, such as a cell phone, turn to a waterproof pannier.
Also, note that there are several attachment systems. There are bike panniers with straps, velcro or even clip-on models under the saddle.

Bike bag compatibility

Did you find a pannier you like? Remember to check that it's compatible with your bike frame before you buy it.
To do this, simply measure your top tube, seat tube or down tube, then compare them to the dimensions of the pannier.
Thanks to this buying guide, you're ready to find the road bike frame pannier of your dreams!"
