PW8 CrMo Pedals EKOI Racing
The PW8 pedal
This pedal, purpose-built for the PW8 pedal/shoe system, was engineered to boost pedaling efficiency thanks to an axle-to-sole stack of just 8 mm and a 1500mm² platform. Unmatched on the market.

The PW8 concept: revolutionary
In the 40 years since clipless pedals arrived, cycling hadn’t seen a true innovation. Patented, the PW8 pedal/shoe concept was developed over more than 4 years with one goal: offer a new concept: + more efficient, + lighter, + more aerodynamic, + easier to use, + better looking.
These performance gains come from the minimized 8 mm axle-to-sole stack combined with an unmatched 1500 mm² platform area.
5 float options: 0°, 1.5°, 3°, 6°, 9°
This step up in performance comes with customizable comfort, thanks to five float options (0°, 1.5°, 3°, 6°, and 9°), helping every rider maintain optimal pedaling alignment.
PW8, a brand
The two letters PW refer to the major gain delivered by the concept, namely POWER (= POWER). The number 8 indicates the axle-to-sole distance in mm (stack height). The shape of the "8" also subtly suggests the potentially infinite power generated thanks to PW8.
EKOÏ is the first brand to develop an outsole engineered specifically for PW8.

Approved by cycling legends
Recognized for their expertise, great champions personally contributed to developing the concept: Philippe Gilbert, Nicolas Roche, Claudio Chiappucci, Michele Bartoli... All are unanimous about the power and comfort gains delivered by the perfect pedal/shoe interface.
Tested for 2 years
Designed to satisfy every rider, the PW8 concept was field-tested by dedicated cyclists, sportive riders, ultra-distance athletes and professionals. All our testers agree this concept noticeably improves pedaling comfort by reducing muscular fatigue.

700 miles and 2 months later here are my first impressions:rn- the pedals are great. Love the larger surface contact area and overall lightness of the pedal/shoe combo.rn- leather of the shoes feels very good. Boa ok (i like the boa on my Canyon Tempr CFR shoes better. It feels like its wrapping my foot more snugged as they are positioned slightly more on the outside of the shoe)rn- i didn't like at first how easy the shoes can come off the cleat. Coming from Shimano ultegra PD R8000 pedals I wished it would have been possible to dial the release tension of the cleats/pedal. That's probably my number 1 feed-back even if after a few weeks i got used to the easy release. I almost returned the shoes and pedal for that reason though.rnrnOverall i find the product great. Thank you for putting your mind, time and money into this very interesting R n' D.
Good morning Emmanuel,
I am Victor in charge of the development of the PW8 pedal. Thanks a lot for your feedback, it is very helpful for us to improve the product.
We are aware of the feeling of the easy unclipping and are working on it. We have stronger springs coming in a few weeks time and we can send you some if you like.
Have a nice week,
Sincerely, -

The pedal clicks in better than any I've used in 50 years of riding. Can't speak to its efficiency gains but works well.
Can you use PW8 for MTB?
- The PW8 system is designed for road and triathlon. Nicolas Roches uses PW8 for gravel, but we don’t recommend it.
Is the model UCI-approved?
- Yes, since February 9, 2025. PW8 pedals are present at UCI races with some riders from the Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur team.
What about cleat-position setup?
- There’s a tutorial video on this page.
Is an integrated power meter version planned?
- Adding a power meter would remove the low axle stack advantage, and thus the PW8 concept. Shimano and SRAM offer cranksets with power meters.
After a crash, does the money-back guarantee still apply?
- In the event of a crash, the guarantee does not apply. The product itself must not be damaged.
Will you make other compatible shoes?
- The C12 shoe is the model used by our pro riders (Valentin Madouas, Richard Carapaz, Carlos Rodriguez...). We’re working on a future, more accessible model without the leather upper, with a Carbon composite sole, and without Michelin® lugs.
Are there shoes with tabs for a triathlon elastic band in this new range?
- Not today. But 2 professional triathletes already use it, including Rudy Van Berg, 3rd at the 2024 Ironman World Championship.
Will other brands be able/willing to offer models?
- 3 renowned brands are interested in the concept and want to develop their own shoe, compatible with the PW8 pedal.
