A Third Victory in 12 Days
Corbin Strong continued his winning streak by taking the win on Thursday in the 1st stage of the Arctic Race of Norway, edging out his teammate Riley Sheehan. This marks his third victory in 12 days, following a stage win and the overall classification at the Tour of Wallonia. Despite cold and rainy conditions in Harstad, the IPT team achieved a one-two finish.
A Finish Tailored for Him
As in his Wallonia victory, the finish line was on an uphill curve. Perfectly launched by Tom Van Asbroeck, Strong secured his third win of the season, with Sheehan right behind him. Strong expressed his appreciation for the pressure and his desire to reward his teammates' efforts, highlighting the positive impact of a training camp in Livigno on the team's dynamics.
Challenging Conditions
The New Zealand rider admitted he had to remove his warm clothing before the sprint, despite the intense cold and relentless rain. This weather was reminiscent of Stevie Williams' victory in the race two years earlier.
Reactions and Prospects
Sheehan, achieving his best result this season, praised the team's cohesion and tactical plan. Thanks to time bonuses, Strong leads Sheehan by 4 seconds in the overall standings before the 2nd stage, between Tennevoll and Sørreisa, which is expected to favor the sprinters once again.
