Who is Simon Clarke?

Simon Clarke is a puncher, capable of shining in a variety of terrains.

He started cycling at the age of 10 in Australia before moving to Italy at the age of 17 to race for the Australian national team.

He also competed in track cycling during his younger years. In 2004, he was crowned world junior team pursuit champion, and then Australian champion in the American in 2006.

In 2008, he became Australian U23 road champion.

Simon Clarke's career path

Simon Clarke signed his first professional contract in 2009. He then signed with Astana, his first World Tour team, in 2011.

In 2012, he joined the Australian team GreenEDGE, later renamed Orica-GreenEDGE. He participated in his first Vuelta, in which he won a stage after a long breakaway and won the best climber classification in the process.

In 2013, he joined the GreenEDGE team, which was renamed Orica-GreenEDGE

In 2013, for his first participation in the Tour de France, he won the team time trial.

In 2014, he won the Herald Sun Tour with winning the second stage.

In 2015, he wore the pink jersey during a stage at the Giro d'Italia after winning the opening team time trial.

In 2016, he signed with the Cannondale team, then the Australian cyclist joined the Team EF Education First-Drapac in 2018, during which year he won another stage in the Tour of Spain.
In 2019, he finished second in the Tour de la Provence and the Amstel Gold Race. In 2020, he won the Drôme Classic ahead of Warren Barguil.

In 2021, he joined the South African Qhubeka Assos team.

  • 2 stage wins (2018, 2012);
