PW8, Closer to Perfection
New pedal + shoe concept
PW8 was born from an engineer's desire to offer cyclists a more efficient and more comfortable pedaling experience.
To date, it is the only concept on the market that combines a minimized stack height (8 mm) and a maximized contact area (1500 mm²).
Over 4 years of development and testing…
It was in 2020 when the first prototype came to life. Thus began a long and meticulous period of testing… Dozens of testers of all levels (amateur cyclists, pro riders, and cycling legends) abandoned their routines and ventured into… the unknown. New benchmarks to find, new sensations…
Endorsed by Cycling Legends
Recognized for their expertise, great champions have personally invested in the development of the concept: Philippe Gilbert, Nicolas Roche, Claudio Chiappucci, Michele Bartoli... All are unanimous on the gains in power and comfort brought by the perfect pedal/shoe compatibility.
More Information on PW8
Ekoï is the first brand to have developed a sole specifically designed for PW8.
Closer to Perfection: this PW8 slogan refers both to the specificity of the concept (closer to the axis) and the promise of excellence made to cyclists.
The symbolism of 8: while the name PW8 clearly references power (POWER) and the stack height (=8mm), its form also suggests the number "8", itself evocative of infinity…

Frequently Asked Questions about PW8
Can PW8 be used for mountain biking?
- The PW8 system is designed for road and triathlon. Nicolas Roches uses the PW8 for Gravel, but we do not recommend it.
Is the model UCI approved?
- Yes, since February 9, 2025. The PW8 is present in UCI races with some riders from the Nice Métropole Côte d'Azur team.
What about the cleat positioning adjustments?
- There is a tutorial on this page, in video format.
Is a model with an integrated power meter considered?
- Implementing a power meter would remove the advantage of axis proximity, and thus the PW8 concept. Shimano and Sram offer cranksets with power meters.
In case of a crash, does the satisfaction guarantee still apply?
- In case of a crash, the warranty is not covered. The product itself must not be damaged.
Will you make other compatible shoes?
- The C12 shoe is the model used by our professional riders (Valentin Madouas, Richard Carapaz, Carlos Rodriguez...). We are working on a future model more accessible, without the leather upper, with a Carbon composite sole, and without Michelin® cleats.
Are there shoes with triathlon elastic straps in this new range?
- Today no. But 2 professional Triathletes already use it, including Rudy Van Berg, 3rd in the Ironman World Championship 2024.
Will other brands be able/want to offer models?
- 3 renowned brands are interested in the concept and wish to develop their own shoe, compatible with the PW8 pedal.
What is the Q-FACTOR of the PW8 pedal?
- The Q-FACTOR of the PW8 pedal is 53 mm, identical to SHIMANO SPD-SL (ROAD) or LOOK KEO road pedals.
Does PW8 require an adjustment of your bike settings?
- Yes, we recommend lowering your saddle height by about 3 to 5 mm compared to your current position.
