Bravo Jake!
After coming so close to his first victory in the WorldTour during the first stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné on Sunday — where he was the fastest behind the four main contenders for the general classification — Jake Stewart finally made it happen today in Mâcon, during the 5th stage.
“My teammates positioned me perfectly. I launched before (Jonathan) Milan and managed to hold on to the line.”
Thanks to the work of his teammates, notably Krists Neilands and Matîs Louvel, who helped reel in the breakaway of the day, Stewart was able to approach the final kilometer in an ideal position, with the invaluable assistance of Guillaume Boivin. Confident, the British rider launched his sprint from afar and delivered a powerful finish, irresistible to his rivals.
This marks the second victory for the 25-year-old Brit in the colors of IPT, less than a month after his very first win during the final stage of the 4 Days of Dunkirk.
