I feel I owe Ekoi a review of the Thermo plus Extrem base layer and to give as much detail as possible.
I have seen the many reviews on Ekoi and questioned the reliability of many of the reviews - no offence if you are reading this as an Ekoi reviewer - but they just didn't seem genuine in the same way as Planet X reviews appear totally fabricated, or perhaps maybe not as bad as that. But I questioned them.
I lurked thinking of buying for a while and then took the plunge as winter arrived with a bang. Apart from other stuff I will review as I get round to it, I have used this base layer a couple of times so far, the most recent this morning in damp Belgian winter weather with the temperature hovering around 0 degrees with cold moisture in the air. I had this base layer on with just an Endura roubaix type jacket and a old Goretex race cut waterproof for the moisture.
I was lovely and warm even on the descents. The material really is excellent providing great warmth and managing moisture exceptionally well, even when I felt compelled to sprint up a hill to distance the commuter who had been sat on my wheel for the last 5km without a hello or anything. It really is remarkable how it manages moisture transfer and keeps you warm. It is an odd feeling whilst on and stationary, sort of warm but not and whilst it is thicker than the standard version, which I also bought, it is still not constrictively thick.
In summary, I am so impressed by this that I might buy a second one when it comes back into stock. I have already bought my son one. Excellent base layer, best I've tried yet from including Merino base layers. That the price was 50% in a sale makes it more awesome. Buy one, you'll not regret it. -

I was putting on three jerseys plus my long sleeve jacket for the past few weeks. It's been about 30F/below 0C so I knew I needed a better solution. Ordered these base layers and they made an incredible difference. 1 base layer, 1 jersey and jacket = Good to Go! The hooded base layer is especially nice to keep cold wind from hitting the face, neck, or creeping in through exposed places. Really enjoy these.
