The 6th stage of the Volta a Portugal took place over 168.5 kilometers and included no less than 6 Mountain Grands Prix. A course conducive to offensives so... At the start of the stage, Luis Angel Maté decides to place himself at the forefront in the company of a group of fugitives, then approaching the line takes off with the only rider able to follow the pace. The "Lynx Andalou" takes advantage of a final embankment 200 meters from the finish to place a decisive attack and win his 3rd professional victory alone (12 years after his last triumph on the Route du Sud). Xabier Mikel Azparren from Fundacion Ciclista Euskadi wins the second stage of the Volta ao Alentejo in Portugal. A break of 2 riders formed and played with the peloton for a long time. The peloton was not able to catch the two riders, helped by a strong tailwind. The breakaway got the better of the peloton and we are very happy about that.

The Euskaltel-Euskadi team returns to Vuelta a España with the highest hopes and the goal of fighting for a stage victory. The Basque team has a workforce of eight riders combining experience and youth and whose quality is proven: Mikel Bizkarra, Joan Bou, Mikel Iturria, Gotzon Martín, Luis Ángel Maté, Antonio Soto, Xabier Mikel Azparren and Juan José Lobato, under the sporting direction of Jorge Azanza. The team returns to the big laps with eight motivated riders to fight each day for at least one victory. Bizkarra and Iturria, who won a stage of the Vuelta 2019 in Urdax, are two guarantees, while Maté - this will be his tenth participation - and Lobato will bring their experience both inside and outside the race. There are four beginners: Bou, Gotzon Martín, Soto and Azparren. Fifteen years between Maté and Azparren, which certifies that it is a diverse group but very coherent and united. Indeed, Bizkarra, Bou, Iturria, Gotzon Martín and Maté took part in the recent Vuelta a Burgos and Soto, Azparren and Lobato come from the Arctic Race in Norway. The orange tide is back! Very strong performance by Antonio Jesús Soto who wins the Tour of Murcia solo. The Spanish rider from the Euskaltel Euskadi team managed to win while he was part of the morning breakaway. He found himself alone with 23km to go and resisted until the end! At 26 years old, this was his first professional victory.

First race of the season, first podium for Ekoi ! After 16 years of absence, the 52nd edition of the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969 kicked off the 2021 season. It offered a magnificent duel between the French and Spanish riders. At the end of the 96 kilometers race, it was Lorrenzo Manzin of Team Total Direct Energie who won a few centimeters ahead of Mikel Aristi of Team Euskaltel-Euskadi and Amaury Capiot, the Belgian rider of Team Arkea Samsic.
